Today I am sharing an EASY Gatefold Card using the Diagonal Gatefold Card Die Set by Creek Bank Creations. I am totally addicted to this die set right now! It scores and cuts cardstock in one swipe to make the perfect fold-out card. AND, it fits inside an A2-sized envelope!

Start with a medium-weight cardstock measuring 6″ x 12″, and run it through your die cut machine with the largest panel die. [NOTE: You WILL need to use an extended cutting platform in your die cut machine, or else the die will not fit]. Fold along the score lines to make the gatefold card base. If desired, save the long, thin strips and the scored triangles to embellish the card later on.
Use the 2 sizes of the diagonal rectangle dies to cut a variety of patterned paper pieces and adhere them to the card. There are literally THOUSANDS of possibilities, here, and EVERY card you make will look different!
Cut one diagonal rectangle shape. Then, FLIP SAME PIECE OF PATTERNED PAPER OVER and cut another diagonal rectangle shape with the BACK of the paper facing up. That’s how to get the diagonal shape to turn the other way on the gatefold card base.
HELPFUL TIP: Back your patterned paper with Creek Bank Creations Super Tacky Tape before cutting the rectangle diagonal pieces. Then, simply adhere to the card. Saves time!
VARIATION: Instead of using patterned paper, die cut photos with the diagonal rectangle shapes and adhere them to the gatefold card base! Great for cards to send to loved ones far away!
Use the 2 fancy stitched “square” dies (included with the die set) for stamping or mounting additional photos. Adhere to the front of the card only on ONE side (otherwise you will never get the card open). I use a pencil to trace around the edge of where I want the “square-ish” panel to go, and then there is no guesswork when I stick it down.
VARIATION: Make several of these gatefold “cards” and adhere them together to make a fold-out photo folio or mini album!
