“He Is Risen” DT Project for Maymay Made It

Today, I am sharing a Design Team project for Maymay Made It – an Easter card made with the Risen Stamp Set. This stamp set really is versatile! With a nice combination of “sentiment-like” words and scriptures, the possibilities are endless.

I started by creating an A2-sized, top-folding card base using 100 lb Alabaster cardstock by Brutus Monroe. Cut the cardstock in half vertically, then score and fold at the 5-1/2″ mark. With the remaining piece of 100 lb Alabaster cardstock, I cut it in half to use for stamping.

Using a combination of Distress Ink colors and Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide Ink, I stamped a variety of “sentiments” from the Risen Stamp Set. To get the look I wanted, I used my stamping platform and stamped one stamp at a time (one color at a time). After I stamped once, I rotated my cardstock 1/4 turn and stamped again. I repeated this process until my panel couldn’t fit any more of the same stamp. Then, I changed the stamp and the Distress Ink color, and repeated the process.

Once the stamping was done, I trimmed the panel down a little and used Tea Dye Distress Ink to ink the outside edges.

Then, I cut a piece of 12″ x 12″ Wood Effect Patterned Paper in half and set one half aside for another project. Then, I cut the remaining half into 6″ x 6″ squares (to make it easier for me to work with). One of the squares I turned into a card panel, measuring approximately 5-1/4″ x 4″. Just for a little extra detail, I sanded off the edges of the paper to reveal the white core inside. I cut 2 strips from the other square of Wood Effect Patterned Paper and adhered them together with double-sided adhesive to create a cross. I was out of adhesive foam tape, so I used some scraps of non-adhesive fun foam from my stash with the double-sided adhesive and it held just fine.

Then, using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, I stamped the “RISEN” Scripture sentiment and the 3 little crosses on 100 lb Alabaster cardstock. At first, I was just going to cut them out with my paper trimmer, but I found a couple of circle punches from my stash and punched out circles instead. Then, I simply adhered the scripture and the little crosses to my card with more double-sided adhesive. As an afterthought, I glazed over the scripture with a little bit of Wink of Stella Shimmer Pen. That’s it!
