Easy Glitter Tape Technique Using Creek Bank Creations dies

Fall in love with your glitter all over again and make beautiful cards that look like you spent hours at your craft table! In only a few moments, and with only a few supplies, you can create projects just like the holiday card I created today. Start with some basics: cardstock, glitter, double-sided adhesive tape and dies.

For this project, I am using products from Creek Bank Creations, but the glitter came from my stash (and it is from Stampin’ Up!). Most importantly, I use the Super Tacky Tape from Creek Bank Creations, as it comes in a huge roll and is extremely sticky!

Start by making a “tape sandwich”, which is a piece of lightweight copy paper in between two pieces of the Super Tacky Tape. You will die cut the Bethlehem Star die and the Dancing Kings die out of the “tape sandwich”.
Adhere the star and the kings to the card panel or card base, but leave the top relief liner in place so the top isn’t sticky as you work.

Then, place a piece of regular white cardstock on a piece of the Super Tacky Tape and die cut out the sentiment. I love the font of the CBC die, “Exceedingly Great Joy”! Be very careful as you work with the sentiment so you don’t tear the paper. Now, before you place the sentiment die on the card, pull off the outside outline ONLY relief paper from the star. Then, to put the sentiment in place, I pulled off the relief liner from the words and saturated the sentiment with some Un-Du Adhesive Remover liquid. This gives me time to wiggle the sentiment around and get it exactly where I want it… and I don’t need to try to fit big drops of liquid adhesive onto those tiny letters, and I can move it right over top of the sticky star outline. The Un-Du will dry in a few moments, leaving no residue at all.

Now it’s time to glitter!
Use your finger to rub gold glitter onto the star outline. Then, brush off the excess with a stiff brush. Repeat the process with the inside image of the star and white iridescent glitter. Rub the glitter firmly with your finger and brush off the excess.

To glitter the kings, use as many colors of glitter as you want! Pull up the relief liner and find a soft, flimsy, small dry paintbrush. “Paint” little spots of glitter loosely on the sticky kings. When the area is covered, rub the glitter in firmly with your finger and brush off the excess as you did earlier.

I used the same technique to apply Creek Bank Creations “Mudd Puddles” to ground the kings. “Mudd Puddles” have a sand-like consistency, and they behave like a sand (not like a glitter), but the technique is the same. I used the 1/4″ tape from Creek Bank Creations to create little strips of sticky areas near the feet of the kings. Then I applied the “Mudd Puddles” just like the glitter, and brushed off the excess.

For final touches, add Distress Ink in Black Soot and Distress Oxide Ink in Seedless Preserves around the outside edges. I also added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Black for accents.
